docholiday82609-Jan-20 11:41 AM

Best tonk of WW2 and Korea
L.Pondera09-Jan-20 08:31 PM
Pershing Disliked That
docholiday82609-Jan-20 08:40 PM
Pershing was underpowered
No stabilizer
Crews in Korea generally preferred the E8 to the Pershing
If you could have ANY armoured vehicle, what would you want to have. Top 5 please.

And 5, M24 Chaffee or M1A1 Abrams
@The Grand Old Lady Does armored vehicles include armored ships or aircraft?
Looks like a 1941 or 1942 era T-34 from the turret
でイブ15-Feb-20 12:02 PM
1940-41
docholiday82615-Feb-20 02:22 PM
For whatever reason, the T-34-57 used the same turret
Probably cuz the soviets can’t come up with new ideas very easily
でイブ15-Feb-20 03:27 PM
if it fits in the turret
who cares
use it well, tovarichi
docholiday82615-Feb-20 04:51 PM
I mean
Lol
The T-34 was so bad
でイブ15-Feb-20 05:03 PM
why?
The Grand Old Lady15-Feb-20 05:06 PM
T-34 ok
でイブ15-Feb-20 05:08 PM
its a decent tank, it did what they created for
docholiday82615-Feb-20 06:37 PM
Heh yeah, it did what it was supposed to do
But the design with the materials was... bad.
The armor was generally very brittle, which led to more spalling, even from a non penetrating shot.
The early turrets like the one seen above were very cramped, and since there was no turret basket, crews could lose digits or limbs in the turret ring.
Welding was relatively poor, and the tank could be hull broken because of that
Hell, on some early models, entire areas were just left unwelded, leaving gaps in the armor
The Grand Old Lady15-Feb-20 06:40 PM
And so molotovs (edited)
docholiday82615-Feb-20 06:41 PM
Yes. Molotov cocktails could kill it.
The engine and transmission had problems as well, and the radios wouldn’t work on some early versions, leading to worse company cohesiveness
The Grand Old Lady15-Feb-20 06:42 PM
We fix problems in due time
docholiday82615-Feb-20 06:49 PM
Still was generally inferior to something like a Sherman
The Grand Old Lady15-Feb-20 07:00 PM
WE WILL FIX PROBLEMS IN DO TIME, and by problems I mean production rate.
でイブ15-Feb-20 10:44 PM
iirc a lot of early t-34 didnt even have radios
L.Pondera16-Feb-20 08:01 PM
It was very much a product of doctrine. Hence them not even having engines expected to last beyond 500km. It was just meant to zerg rush.
Hungarians recycle a Russian T-34 tank by removing the gun turrents and replacing them with MiG-21 jet engines to create the world's most extreme fire extinguisher.
